I built this Cube Organizer Shelf to look just like a Target or Ikea shelving unit, but with wings that swing up and lock into place to fill a bay window in my friends’ house. They wanted the shelving unit for their daughter, Drew, who was running out of room for her Legos and dolls. She wanted to build a full town with Legos and the shelf they had before wasn’t long enough. The best part about this shelving unit is that it is only as deep as the bay window, so it doesn’t take up any additional floor space. in her room. I could have definitely gone with a different method for locking the wings into place while they are flipped up, but decided to go with this method as it is simple enough for Drew, a five year old, to understand.
